Who am I and other existential questions
Hello, the name is Jennifer deWinter. Yes, I know that everyone is named Jennifer, but my father did want to name me Sven Orloff on the 50% chance that I was a boy. Life is full of small favors... I am a graduate student at Eastern Washington University, studying Teaching as a Second Language and Rhetoric and Composition. For some reason, I cannot commit to one degree over another. As an undergraduate (also at EWU), I received a BA in both Literature and Japanese; I won't even begin to list off the minors that I received. Other schools that I have attended are Spokane Falls Community College and KCP in Tokyo Japan. This summer, I was accepted into Cambridge University, England. Exciting, yes, but I'm freaking out about the mad cow disease right now.
Jennifer's Hobbies
I fool myself into thinking that I have enough free time that I can dedicate to hobbies. On those seconds between 4:32 am and 4:37 am, I enjoy reading everything under the stars. Now that I think about it, I enjoy the stars too. I am also irrevocably drawn to Japanese animation. One of the great reasons that I studied Japanese to the extent that I have is my desire to watch the cartoons without reading the little words at the bottom of the screen. My childhood dream was to become an animator; however, I have had to content myself with teaching watercolor painting twice a week.
A Very Brief Introduction to My Family
I am very much the product of my environment, so I think that this introduction is semi-necessary. My mother was the breadwinner in the early part of my life; now she is the constant slave to her family and we all appreciate it. My father's from Montana (something that we never let him live down), and he is a union Boilermaker. Lastly, my sister is six years younger than me, so I had severe single child complex when she was born. As a result of these dynamics, I am a pro-union, highly motivated career woman who works ten times harder for a vague idea of perfection. The recent addition to the family is the sister's baby, Danika Shea-Lee. I think that we all have to love babies unconditionally.

a series of very special thanks:
I would like to take this moment to thank the Chair of EWU's English Department, Dr. Elder, for his continuous support and encouragement. I would also like to thank Dr. Eng for giving me this opportunity to fulfill my goals of creating a web page for the class room and his excellent advise to me when it comes to teaching. Further, I know that I thank Dr. Logan and the Mad Hatterz Society everyday for their shared love of literature. Most importantly, I would like to extend my never ending gratefulness to my mother and father, as well as my eternal love to my sister and her baby.
Thank you.

My Favorite Japanese Poem
Since I no longer think
of reality
as reality,
what reason would I have
to think of dreams as dreams?
